Baby Registry Wish List!

Registering for baby gifts was one of my favorite things to do when I was pregnant with Reagan! I loved looking at everything and picturing her wearing the cute clothes, sleeping on the soft sheets, and cuddling in the fuzzy towels. I loved buying and installing her car seat for the first time and imagining bringing her home from the hospital with us. I loved purposefully picking out each individual item on our registry with her in mind, wondering how she would look using all of these wonderful new things we were getting for her. I did HOURS of research on the best baby gear–from playpens and bouncers to bath tubs and bottles I was determined to get the products with the highest reviews and the best price points. To give you a place to start, I’ve compiled a list of my absolute best items as an ultimate Baby Registry Wish List! Since I feel like I could have made this list really long, I’ve decided to include only the most necessary items that I think are really worth the time and investment. Here we go!

1. Graco Click Connect Car Seat: We went with Graco initially because that’s what I remember always having in my family growing up, but we really do love this brand. The click connect system is great because the car seat can attach to their strollers so you don’t have to disturb a sleeping newborn when you’re out and about. There are several options, but the one I like is the SnugRide 30. It is the most affordable I could find at $89.99 and fits a baby up to 35 lbs and 30 inches long. My 18 month old daughter still fits those requirements so you can get a lot of use out of this!

2. Graco Newborn Napper Pack n’ Play: Another Graco favorite, Reagan slept in this pack n’ play until she was 8 months old! I love that there is a specific spot for newborns to sleep that is cozier and can vibrate, a bassinet option for once baby outgrows the newborn napper, and then the regular pack n’ play when baby outgrows the bassinet. When we moved Reagan to her crib we started using the pack n’ play for her friends to nap in when they came over or just for Reagan to practice crawling in and out of. This is priced at around $160 on Amazon, but keep an eye out for sales and you can get it for closer to $120.

3. White noise machine: When newborns leave mom’s uterus, they are not used to the sudden silence that surrounds them when it’s time to sleep! White noise machines can be total lifesavers in those early months and even longer. Reagan used hers until the batteries in our died and I forgot to change them–when she went to sleep just fine without it I decided to not bother replacing the batteries! I love this option from Skip Hop, the elephant is super cute and I love that is includes a dimmable nightlight. It is priced at $40 but Baby Cubby price matches (even Amazon) so look out for sales to get it for cheaper!

4. Swaddle blankets: You cannot have too many swaddle blankets! Newborns love being wrapped up tightly so having a surplus of large swaddles is so important. Plus, once they grow out of wanting to be swaddled, these make great nursing cover-ups, play mats, and make-shift sun canopies. I love the Aden and Anais bamboo swaddle sets. They are pricey but the material is the softest ever and they are stretchy which helps keep baby nice and tucked in, so to me it is worth the investment!

5. Dockatot: Something I didn’t have with Reagan but is definitely on my list for baby #2! It is so important to have a safe place for baby to sleep, but it’s equally important to have a safe place to put baby down when you need to free up your arms. The Dockatot is the solution for safe baby sleep and it’s light weight and mobility makes it one of a kind. They also have covers that come in some seriously cute patterns 🙂 This is definitely an expensive item, but that’s what grandma’s are for right?!

6. Baby bath tub and bath set: We went with this baby tub option because it had the newborn sling and could grow with baby into the toddler years. We used this for about a year before finally retiring it so it was a good buy! There are tons of other options out there, I would recommend any tub that has options for newborns up to toddlers so you don’t waste your money on a tub your baby will only use for 2 months. Our favorite bathing soaps and shampoos are from the Burt’s Bees collection. I love that their products are organic and natural for baby’s sensitive skin. We started out using Johnson & Johnson but the lotion actually dried Reagan’s skin out so we ditched that pretty quick. Burt’s Bees also makes really soft hooded towels that we loved using for Reagan until she grew out of them. Highly recommend all of their baby bath time goodies!

7. Glider: You will spend a lot of time in those first few months feeding baby and rocking baby to sleep, so having a comfortable glider is so important! I love this one from Amazon because of all the cushioning! So many times I wanted to fall asleep in our glider and it just was not going to happen because there wasn’t enough head and neck support, but that clearly wouldn’t be a problem with this one. Worth the investment, you will be so grateful for a comfy rocker in those early newborn days!

8. Video Baby Monitor: When baby eventually moves into their own room, having a video baby monitor is so important for giving you piece of mind! This one from Motorola is our favorite because of some very important features. I love that the camera has pan, tilt and zoom capabilities–babies tend to  move around a lot when they get older so the ability to move the camera when Reagan decided to hide in the corner of her crib was really nice! The temperature feature is also really great, Reagan’s room is the least insulated in our apartment so it’s the coldest in the winter and the hottest in the summer. Regulating the thermostat became a lot easier when we knew the exact temperature in her room even if the other rooms were a different temperature. The ability to add cameras to this bundle is great for growing families or those with twins! Having video was absolutely crucial for me, I loved being able to check in on Reagan without having to physically get up and check on her in the middle of the night.
