October in Las Vegas is my absolute favorite! The weather is amazing, the leaves change color, and we can finally spend time outside after being cooped up all summer long. We have been living in our backyard, eating all of our meals, having mini bonfires, riding bikes and playing soccer, and it’s been wonderful! I decided to give our back patio a little update with some quick and easy DIY patio signs, and I love the little extra something they added to the space.
I used extra materials we had laying around, but it would be so easy to DIY these with wood from the hardware store! The piece of wood I used was actually the bottom part of a crib that I have been carrying around for 4 years, and I am so glad I finally found a good use for it!
Materials
-48×24 piece of thin plywood cut into 2, 24×24 square pieces.
-black chalkboard spray paint
-white vinyl lettering (I got mine from CandEsVinylCreations!)
-sander or sandpaper
Directions
-Sand each piece of wood so the surfaces are smooth, then wipe off any dust
-Spray paint the wood with black chalkboard paint, I only needed one coat!
-wipe the surface clean
-carefully apple the vinyl decals
I used hemp cord and hot glue to attach a hanging apparatus to the back of each piece of wood, the hung them from nails on the wall.
You could easily DIY patio signs for the season, football teams, or with your family name on them. I’m really happy with how this turned out and love the contrast it adds to this giant beige wall! This patio really feels like an extension of our home now and I love that we are putting it to good use!
