Ask any parent and they’ll likely tell you that teething is one of the worst stages of babyhood! Having your sweet, happy baby turn into a needy, clingy, constantly-nursing little monster isn’t fun for anyone, and it’s so hard to see your baby in pain and not be able to do anything about it. If you’re lucky, your baby will cut several teeth quickly and have fewer teething spells, but sometime it takes weeks for one tooth to finally come through. And that’s where we find ourselves with Elliott right now 🙁
While there’s not anything you can do to make a tooth pop through faster, there are some natural remedies you can try to ease baby’s discomfort! I asked all of you what your tried and true methods are, and I’ve included them along with things we use to help with teething!
Punkin Butt Teething Oil – I bought this based on a friend’s recommendation when Reagan was teething and it is gold. The bottle is $10 on Amazon and lasts seriously forever, we’ve used it for both girls and still have over half the bottle left. The essential oil combination provides a tingling sensation and slight numbing when applied to gums. It also tastes good which makes it more pleasant for babies to take!
Teething Ring – I received this teether from A Timeless Tot and it’s our most used teething toy! The cords are strong enough to withstand lots of chomping and they provide relief on sore gums. The clip is a mix of wood and silicone beads so every part of this teether is chewable!
Copaiba Essential Oil – One drop of this essential oil provides numbing relief to sore gums. It comes in your starter kit of Young Living essential oils which you can find more info about here!
Amber Necklace – We’ve never tried these, but a lot of you recommended them! The science behind these is this: when babies wear the amber necklace, their body heat warms it up causing oils containing succinic acid to release onto the skin and into the bloodstream. The succinic acid results in pain, and teething relief. The science is considered safe by the FDA, just be sure to remove the necklace when baby is sleeping!
Rubber Toothbrush – You can pick up a rubber toothbrush like this one from any store or on Amazon and let baby chomp on it as much as they want! This is especially useful for molars, since baby can reach it farther back in their mouth than other teethers.
Mesh Bag + Frozen Fruit – So many of you suggested putting frozen fruit in a mesh bag and letting baby chew on it! I haven’t tried this yet but I’m eyeing this bag on Amazon and have a whole bag of fruit in the freezer just waiting to be chomped on!
Frozen Washcloth – Another suggestion from one of you, I think this is so smart! Stock your freezer with a couple washcloths and let baby suck.chew on them for some instant frozen relief. Virtually mess free too!
