I am a big believer in trying to DIY anything to save a few dollars, and this blanket ladder is one of my proudest and easiest projects! It took five minutes to assemble and cost me less than $5 to make! Considering some blanket ladders sell for $50-$100, this was a DIY project I could really appreciate!
All you need is:
-2, 8ft long, 1×2 pieces of wood
-screws
-power drill
-stain of choice (or my DIY stain recipe found HERE)
Instructions:
1. Make a cut at 5ft long on each of the 8ft long pieces of wood. Pro tip, just get Home Depot to do this so you don’t have to worry about it!
2. With the remaining 3ft section, make a cut at 18 inches. These shorter pieces will make the legs of the ladder so they need to be exactly the same in length.
3. Stain each of the pieces of wood and allow them to dry completely.
Assembly:
1. Measure out how far apart you would like the legs of the ladder to be. I ended up only using three of the legs and placing them 16 inches apart so I had more room for larger blankets! I left a larger distance at the bottom of the ladder so I could fit a basket underneath.
2. Mark with a pencil where you will be placing the legs of the ladder, and using a power drill, screw them into place.
That’s it! Literally the easiest and simplest blanket ladder for a fraction of the cost of ones in store!
