For the longest time I have displayed our large artwork and prints in those cheap, ugly, poster frames from Walmart because getting nice wooden frames is crazy expensive! Then one day, a little light bulb suddenly went off in my head and I realized I could probably make my own wood frames for a fraction of the cost, that would look wayyyy better than the black plastic ones!

So off I went to home depot to see what I could find, and wouldn’t you know I discovered I could make frames in the sizes I needed for about $1.50 each! Here’s how I did it, and pictures of the frames I have made so far!

Supplies:
-1 x 2 wood cut to the dimensions you need*
-Spray paint or homemade stain (recipe coming on Wednesday!)
-tools (or if you’re like me, a hot glue gun 🙂 )
*when you’re cutting wood, make sure you take the dimensions of your print minus one inch on each side so the pieces can fit together. For example, for a 24×36 print I cut 2 pieces of wood at 36 inches and 2 pieces and 23 inches.

Instructions:
-This is a pretty basic DIY so not a lot of instructions! Sand your pieces of wood and paint or stain them your color of choice. When everything has dried, hot glue the pieces of wood together to form a frame. Use a dot of hot glue at each corner to attach your print to the frame. Voila, that’s it! Seriously the easiest ever and the end product looks really good!

Later this week I will have a blog post linking some of my favorite free printables that are in our home, so you can use this easy DIY to frame and display them in your home! Happy crafting!
