5 Ways Your Man Can Use Essential Oils!

I don’t know about y’all, but when I told my husband I wanted to start using oils he rolled his eyes and made some comment about hippy voodoo. Fair enough, since I’d had similar thoughts before! Lucky for me my husband was always supportive of me incorporating oils into our lives, and he was always up to try one of my whacky ideas to remedy some ailment he was having. We’ve been at this for about three months and my husband uses oils as much as I do, he uses them on his own (such a big kid!) and he takes initiative to use them before our old products that contain nasty harmful chemicals.

So if you have a man in your life who isn’t on board with essential oils yet, or is hesitant to let them work in his life, here are 5 ways your man can use oils that will help get him inspired and involved!

  1. Beard Oil – FACT: Jared has never been able to grow a beard, and anytime he let it grow for a few days it was the patchiest, scratchiest, nastiest looking thing ever. Seriously, poor guy would refer to his beard as “some animal that crawled up and died on my face.” So one day he jokingly asked if essential oils could cure his inability to grow a beard and after some quick Pinterest research I found this recipe! No joke, he has the fullest beard he’s ever had in his life, and he uses the beard oil everyday to keep things smooth, smelling good, and healthy!
  2. Foot Soak – When Jared was 19 he left to serve a two year long mission for our church in an impoverished area of Brazil. While there, he contracted a slow growing but non-invasive foot fungus that he hasn’t been able to get rid of in eight years. He started soaking his foot in a mix of Tea Tree oil, vinegar and water and the foot fungus went away in less than a week. After EIGHT YEARS. I think this was the thing that really convinced him that oils work!
  3. Headache/Pain Relief – Does your man work out or have a physically demanding job? Is he prone to migraines? Whip up a roller bottle with Panaway, Copaiba, and coconut oil and have him apply to his temples for headache relief or to sore muscles for pain relief! Jared is prone to headaches late at night, but after applying this roller bottle he’s able to fall asleep within 30 minutes.
  4. Allergy Blend – My husband suffers from horrible seasonal and environmental allergies and relies on Claritin D to make it through the entire month of January. This year, we implemented an allergy blend of lavender, lemon and peppermint (details here) in a roller bottle to help alleviate those allergy symptoms and the results were amazing! He reported his seasonal allergies were SO much better on the days he used the roller bottle and diffused oils as compared to relying just on the Claritin.
  5. Stress Away – For his birthday, I gave my husband a wellness package (read more about that here) that included a Calm roller bottle for when he solo parents every night when I go to work. Our schedules are such that we basically do a 2 minute handoff everyday between when he gets home from work and when I leave for work, so there’s not a lot of time for him to destress from work before having to handle dinner and bath time for the kids. He rolls this blend of Lavender and Stress Away on his wrists when he gets home everyday to help him relax in the midst of all the chaos!

So ladies, if you’re in the middle of transitioning to an oily lifestlye and looking for ways to include your husband, give these a try! And if any of them work for you, please comment and let me know below!
