How to Pack a Vertical Diaper Bag

My diaper bag review guide is coming out next week and I am so excited! It’s been a long time coming and I hope you guys find it resourceful, I really want this to be a one stop shopping guide for moms looking for their perfect bag!

One of the bags that’s included in the guide is this one from Anchored East. I was immediately drawn to this bag because it’s super cute and affordable! I love the heathered gray mixed with leather accents, and it’s only $60 on Amazon (hello free two day shipping!)

This bag does have a good amount of interior and exterior pockets, but the vertical shape can make it difficult to organize and pack. I had a question about this on my Instagram, so I thought I would write about how I pack this vertical diaper bag so everything is easily accessible and organized!

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING when packing a vertical diaper bag:

Packing Cases!

These ones are my favorite, and I’ve tried a few! You really want ones that have clear pockets so you can see exactly what’s in each one when you’re digging around. These ones are also lined with plastic on the inside, so when that pouch of baby food inevitably explodes it’s super easy to wipe out and clean up. Trust me, you want this feature!

I pack my diapers and wipes in the largest one, snacks in the medium size, and personal things in the small one. The personal things I always carry with me are Benadryl (in case Reagan has peanuts on accident), a mini first aid kit, and extra hair ties. I rarely need to access this case so I keep it in the back zippered pocket in the backpack. The two larger cases I keep in the main compartment since I access them frequently during the day!

I keep my phone, wallet, and keys in the outside pockets so I can reach them easily without having to open the actual backpack. Chapstick and hand sanitizer are in the side pocket, and I can fit a sippy cup and larger water bottle in the inside stretchy pockets.

With everything in a specific pocket or packing case, there is a lot of room left over in the main compartment for extra clothes, toys, books, or items we pick up while we’re out shopping. I love bringing this backpack to church because I can comfortably pack all the activities to keep my kids occupied in addition to everything else we need!

The biggest key to staying organized with a vertical diaper bag is utilizing the pockets and putting everything back when you get it out. These bags can easily become a black hole of old receipts, half eaten snacks, and old wipes because of how deep they are, so it’s important to not let anything get out of place! That being said, I really appreciate how much this bag can hold without feeling huge, and it is my go to style if I have a lot I need to carry with me!

Hope this is helpful! Keep an eye out for that comprehensive review coming out next week!
