Minimalist Master Bedroom

We recently upgraded from a queen bed to a king bed (FINALLY!) so we needed to redo our bedroom and bedding! This was kind of a bittersweet thing for me, I loved the style of our old master and the headboard was a table that we built together, so I liked the sentiment of it. Our headboard was too small for the new mattress, so I figured I would change everything up while we were at it!

I had a really hard time deciding what kind of bedding and style I wanted this time around, so I turned to some of my favorite home decor accounts for inspiration! Cynthia Harper is one of my favorites on Instagram because she is so bold with paint and dark colors, and I just love that about her style! I really wanted to incorporate the dark statement wall trend in our room, but since we are renting and can’t paint I had to think of something else.

Our last room had Linens & Hutch bedding and since then I can’t go back to anything else! The sheets are so soft, they feel like super high quality but are really affordable, you can easily grab a couple sets for the price of one set from another retailer!

I found this black duvet cover from Linens & Hutch and decided to give it a try! I was worried about making our bed look like a black hole, but it actually achieved the bold statement I was going for while also looking very minimalist. Once we got the bed set up, I was surprised at how much I liked it all on its own! I stressed for a long time about whether we should get another headboard or what we should put above the bed but I’m really liking the stark contrast of the black bedding against the plain white wall.

I have some ideas of what I want to eventually do to this room, but for now I’m letting it just be minimalist and allowing my creative juices time to decide what I want to do. if you have any ideas or suggestions, I would love to hear about them! Sometimes I draw creative blanks, and talking it out helps!
