Blogging has given me SO many opportunities to connect and work with some incredible brands, and I am so grateful for all of the fun campaigns I have worked on over the last 3 years. I have to let you in on a little secret though, working with HOME DEPOT is an actual dream come true, and something I never expected would happen! I am beyond thrilled to announce that I am working on a SUPER fun collaboration with Home Depot to update our 90’s builders grade kitchen! This will be a budget kitchen update, with intentional purchases designed to get the most bang for our buck and I can’t wait to transform this space.
Inspiration
My main goal when it comes to updating our honey oak 90’s builder’s grade kitchen is to design something that flows well with the design of the rest of the house. Since we are renting, we are working very closely with out landlords to create a space that is appealing to not only us, but to future tenants who will live in this house when we move out in a couple of years.
The rest of the house was updated before we moved in, and has a lot of modern touches with chrome finishes. Because of that, we have decided to paint the old honey oak cabinets white, and add satin nickel hardware to all drawers and cabinets.
Our current countertops are an off white tile and since this is a budget kitchen update, will be too expensive to demo or replace. So instead, I am contemplating covering them with my go to white marble contact paper! (Come see what an impact this contact paper made in our old playroom HERE)! I will finish the cabinets and hardware first, and reevaluate when I see everything together.

A Note from Our Landlords
I have mentioned before how much we love our landlords in this new house, and they offered to write this segment on how to approach a landlord with a request like this! I love that they offered this perspective, and think it is valuable insight to any renters wanting to propose budget kitchen updates in the house they are occupying. Find their advice below!
Next Steps
The only thing left to do is actually start! We have everything we need, and once we get back in town next week I think I will begin the process! Luckily our kitchen is small, so I’m hoping I can finish everything after the kids go to bed over the duration of a few days!
Stay tuned on my Instagram for the start to finish process, I plan to go into deep detail on everything I’m doing as a resource for those of you curious about doing it yourselves!
