Christmas Cards/Party Invite Ideas!

I really miss the idea of sending invitations and cards in the mail and writing hand written thank you notes. We still send Christmas cards and birth announcements in the mail because I feel like the world of e-vites and Facebook events has taken over some of the sentiment and personality that goes with sending mail the old school way! Don’t get me wrong I am all about a quick online invite, but I miss having hard copies of things too!

While we’re talking about party invitations, let me tell you about the one I just received last week from work! I was checking my work email and saw a message about the company Christmas party. It was a super plain and basic email with date, location, and time and some really outdated graphics. The thing that cracked me up though was the dress code—Western Casual. What the heck is western casual?! Boots and Wranglers? At a Christmas party?! I about died. Also if anyone can offer insight as to what western casual is, I would greatly appreciate it 🙂

Anyyywayyys. I want to share with you guys this website (that my company should have used!) that makes custom invites, announcements and cards! Basic Invite was kind enough to send me some samples to test out and review and I was able to go through the process of making invites on their site. Here are some things I like about Basic Invite:

  • So many customization options! When you select a design you have 180 different color options to choose from to personalize your invite. You can change the color of each element on the card to make sure it is exactly what you want! I love the idea of being able to match the font color to my picture 100% so I know they won’t clash. They also offer 40 different colors of envelopes! I always go with a basic white, but with this many options I’m thinking I need to mix it up a little 🙂
  • Samples! Basic Invite will send you samples of their holiday cards before you commit to purchasing your order. I loved being able to feel like texture, sturdiness, and quality of the different cards when I ordered my samples. This isn’t something I normally think about, but it’s crazy how many different options you have when it comes to paper quality and picking something that will last and look great.
  • Address capturing service! The hardest part for me when it comes to sending out invites or cards is writing the addresses on each one. I usually have all my cards ordered and ready to go but I wait until last minute to send them because it takes forever to hand write all the addresses! Basic Invite offers an address capturing service that collects your friends and family’s addresses through a custom link that you can share on social media or through email. The addresses are stored in your account and can be printed directly from the website!
  • Foil cards! There is something about the holidays that makes me want to put glitter on everything! Basic Invite offers some beautiful foil designs that would look perfect for work holiday party invitations, Christmas cards, and New Years party invitations.
  • Selection! There are over 250 Christmas and holiday card designs to choose from! Anybody can find exactly what they’re looking for with that many options. Need a Christmas party invitation idea? (that’s not sent through email :)) You can definitely find it here!

Right now, Basic Invite is offering 30% off your order with code holi30! I still haven’t made a plan for our Christmas cards this year, (what we’re wearing, where we’re taking them, who’s taking them) but I already picked out my fave designs from Basic Invite, and I’ll be sure to share them with you all when I finally get everything put together!

Boots, jeans and a cute top! Or a cute dress with boots. Or a cute dress with more casual heals and western jewelry ( chunky, turquoise, silver, feathers, Etc)
    Love it!
