Green Smoothie SECRET Ingredient!

If it wasn’t for green smoothies my kids would literally never eat a vegetable. Reagan will occasionally eat a couple slices of cucumber but that’s it! We used to do able to sneak chopped spinach or bell pepper into her mac and cheese but once she caught on she started inspecting every bite of food and throwing a tantrum if she sees a hint of veggie.

Elliott has recently learned how to spit food out which has been such a treat, and sometimes she will spit her food out just so she can feed it to herself again #shesgross. Anyways, the one thing that both kids agree to eat without any fussing or spitting are these green smoothies! Reagan helps me make them (so she knows they have spinach) and she still loves drinking them and always asks for more.

I have a secret way of making these smoothies that makes them taste SO DARN GOOD that not even the knowledge of handfuls of spinach scares off my picky eaters.

The secret?

PASSIONFRUIT JUICE.

My husband spent two years serving a mission in Brazil which is where he was introduced to passionfruit juice. When he came back to the states he was on a mission to find some here because he missed it so much. After years of searching we actually found some in our local Walmart in the hispanic foods section, and have seen it at Smith’s grocery stores too!
Notice how it says Passionfruit cocktail? We have to dilute this a ton because of how sweet it is, but even the smallest amount (like 3-4 ounces!) makes a huge impact on our smoothies!

GREEN SMOOTHIE RECIPE:
-Passionfruit cocktail
-Assorted frozen fruit, one of our fave combos is banana, strawberry, blueberry, but we also love mango, papaya, and peaches. You can’t really go wrong here!
-Spinach
-Ice
-Water

Start with the passionfruit juice and water in a blender, then add the frozen fruit, spinach, and finally the ice! This makes the tastiest, sweetest smoothies and is guaranteed to get some veggies into your kids!
